MCA Islamic Marriage Application

PLEASE READ THE NOTES BELOW BEFORE COMPLETING THE FORM

Please complete this form at least 3 weeks prior to the marriage contract date providing all relevant details and documentation.

Notes for Applicants:
1-    Appointments for the Islamic marriage contract should be made at least 3 weeks prior to the planned date.
2-    This form must be completed in full, signed and handed to MCA three days prior to the wedding.

Requirements:
1-    MI American Marriage License: Here is how you can get the license:
a.    Washtenaw County Clerk Office:
b.    200 North Main Street, Suite 100, Vital Records, Ann Arbor, Michigan, phone 734-222-6720.
c.    Note: For planning purposes you need to know that there is a waiting period after applying for the MI Marriage License and before you can use it. However, there an exemption procedure you may inquire about.

2-    The presence of the guardian of the bride or her official designee.
3-    Proper Identification: Driver license, or etc.
4-    The presence of two Muslim male witnesses.
5-    A meeting with the Imam prior to ceremony to make sure that all other Islamic prerequisites are fulfilled.
6-    Residency in Ann Arbor and vicinity area.
7-    The marriage ceremony shall be conducted in the MCA premises. Any change of venue must be discussed and approved by the Imam.

Fees:
- MCA recommends $50 donation to cover the administrative costs. However, you may give additional amount to MCA, or officiating Imam or his designee. Please write separate check for each.
